And so it begins

Today is the first day of my challenge. I feel excited, actually. I’m about to climb a metaphorical mountain wearing fabulous clothes.

Another lifetime ago, I used to work in an office five days a week and go out after work at least twice a week. I would choose my outfits for the week on a Sunday. It meant I didn’t have to think about what to wear in a very small window at very early o’clock. It also meant that I had time to create actual looks. These days I tend to have a quick shower, think about what I’ll be doing that day, look at the weather app then choose an outfit based on my findings. The problem with this method is that I end up erring on the side of practical. I’d like to go back to the Sunday planning again. While it feels slightly ridiculous as I don’t really go out much anymore, I think it will help me breathe some life back into forgotten gems.

Anyway, I didn’t plan my outfit today but I did open my wardrobe and consider what I could wear that was suitable for cycling the girls to Monkey Music on a crisp October morning.

The gilet is from Nooki Design. I got it about two and a half years ago. It’s pretty, quirky and I enjoyed wearing it. I was a bit disappointed to see it was 100% polyester which is not in keeping with the environmental vibe but it is getting worn for the first time in a long time and thus doing its part in clothes waste. Gilets are all about timing: they are too warm to wear in the summer and not warm enough to wear in the winter. Today was perfect gilet weather, so that was a win.

I have, and will continue to, include details of where I got my items in the interest of second-hand shopping.

Faux shearling gilet, Nooki Design; long-sleeved t-shirt; Cos, cropped high-waisted jeans, Citizens of Humanity; belt, Accessorize; trainers, Nike; shoulder bag, Uniqlo.
