Aside from the nursery run, I’ve been at home writing today. I’m wearing an outfit I wear all the time. I love wearing dungarees with an oversized cardigan and a quirky accessory. It makes me feel like me.
I’ve been doing this challenge for two days and have already noticed temptations to buy stuff. Here are three from today:
The literal shop window. I cycled past Anthropologie and my head turned for a beautiful argyle cardigan. I can’t remember what else the mannequin was wearing – just this cardigan of magnificent blue hues and bold gold buttons. I immediately started thinking about how it would go perfectly with a pair of navy barrel trousers I have. I then immediately reminded myself that it was foolish to create imaginary outfits with a cardigan I’m never going to buy.
The carefully curated dashboard. I’d bought the girls a bundle of leggings from Vinted and had been notified that they were ready to collect (five stars, thanks Shirley). I opened the app, and there before me was a sea of dresses, tops, and shoes that had my name all over them. There in the middle, lit up like a lighthouse, was a Ganni leopard-print top that I have been looking for forever. But again, I was swift and cheetah-like, and got out of there pronto. I suppose the algorithm will change when I stop clicking on things.
The influencer unboxing. My next moment of temptation was on Instagram. Obviously. I opened the app, and the first thing I saw was one of the lovely, stylish SheerLuxe girls (a survivor of my mass cull, omg) doing an unbox. For those who aren’t familiar with an unbox, it’s when an influencer unwraps a new purchase on camera and talks through the experience with their followers. It’s very hypnotic, and I can’t be sure they don’t use actual magic. Anyway, I clocked what was happening and clicked that unfollow button quicker than a new mum of twins eats a sandwich. Which is very bloody quick, let me tell you.
