I went shopping in my wardrobe today. With some time to myself, I chose my outfits for the week. I picked seven individual items I was drawn to and created a look around each. My only consideration was the weather: it’s neither hot nor cold right now, so everything needed to be easy to layer.
The point of the exercise was to notice what clothes I’m gravitating towards lately, and whether giving myself time made a difference. It did. I found myself reaching for jeans and leopard print obvs, but having the space to try things on helped me to style things differently. Laying out a week’s worth of outfits made me want to make each one different, too.
For today, my outfit consisted of two main colours: light blue and black, accented with gold. Jeans, a black top and loafers is a favourite combination. I’ve worn them in different ways since my teens. This jumper is great for layering, and opting for loafers over trainers completely changes the vibe.
Loafers are one of my wardrobe essentials. They’re timeless. Today’s versions are thick and chunky, but the core design has barely changed over the years. Mine are a nod to Gucci’s original 1953 creation with golden horsebits. They blend heritage with modern streetwear, embodying that contrast of rough and refined that elevates even the most minimal outfit.
