I went to Farringdon today. I worked there for nearly six years at a media agency but hadn’t been back since leaving almost eight years ago.
I got off at Waterloo, walked the familiar route over the bridge, past the Royal Courts of Justice where there was a small protest about Gaza, then through Fleet Street and on to Leather Lane.
The moment I hit Leather Lane, I felt instantly transported back to another era. It was the strangest feeling. Maybe it’s because so much has changed for me since then: having kids, my job, relationship, home… everything, really. Or maybe it’s because Farringdon has its own vibe that never, ever changes. It’s creative, it’s down-to-earth, it’s young. As I walked the streets, I had flashbacks to nights out with media friends, getting a tattoo at a now-closed parlour on St John Street… they were happy memories.
I wore a striped jumper with ‘Ciao’ on the front, a satin skirt, chunky boots and a large tote adorned with cheetahs. I’m going to add a satin skirt to my clothing staples. It’s an item I’ve worn through the years (not the same one) and can style in so many different ways, through the seasons.

Jumper, George at ASDA; skirt, Next; boots, H&M; tote bag, Kate Spade.
